Rustic and Cute, Orange Pekoe in Barnes

October 2014 Cake Masters Magazine

“My friend, Sue, had been recommending this little gem of a spot to me for years, and I’m so glad I finally went for a visit. Orange Pekoe is in a gorgeous part of West London in a charming little village that hardly feels like London. It also has a great outdoor seating area where you can while away the time watching the world go by. But, what struck me about Orange Pekoe was not only their gorgeous “boutique-y” tea house décor, but their vast assortment of teas! Seriously, a whole wall full and then some. The cake display at the front of the store showcases their fresh cakes and pastries on offer. I couldn’t help but eye up the scrumptious-looking carrot cake and the ginormous macarons. We were sat in the conservatory area in the rear (please note that seating is limited, so call ahead if you want to reserve seating), and as a testament to this spot’s popularity, every table was full! We got to chatting with some locals who raved about Orange Pekoe and, once our afternoon tea cake stand arrived, it’s no wonder. Seriously, for only £20 per person, you will have more than enough to eat. The sandwiches are “real” sandwiches – freshly made, they warm up the scones for you, AND the cake slices are HUGE! Our friends live in the area, so I’ll be begging for a return trip here.”
